Mark Weetman has aspired to the opulent lifestyle that stock-broking supposedly brings since overnighting with a successful, London based commodity trader in the late 80’s. When not busting myths, Mark heads one of South Africa’s largest retail derivatives brokers, and relaxes by running a hedge fund. With over 20 years of trading experience, much of it in the derivatives trenches, Mark rates himself as a self-made trader – Self-image has obviously never been a problem in Mark’s life.
Taahir is a global graduate, successfully completing his ACCA qualification in Malaysia. His passion for the stock markets took him to London in 2011 where he completed his Masters degree and got his fist gig as a screen watcher. He has been trading actively ever since… Taahir embodies the spirit of entrepreneurship and global awareness, and believes it is this combined with critical fundamental analysis that are key in identifying opportunities and growing wealth. He also completed all the CFA examinations.
Known as Robby P to colleagues and clients, Robby sits on the Private Client services desk at VPC. Robby has been at Vunani Private clients for about four years where he specializes in CFD and equity trading. He’s a technical trader by nature, and relies heavily on charts & technical analysis to make trading decisions and recommendations. Robby runs the SMART trading service where he looks for profitable short term market moves by trading CFDs.
Innocent graduated with a B. Com (Honours) Degree in Banking in 2011, and gained corporate banking experience for about 2 years. His passion for stock markets made him complete the SAIFM ‘JSE registered securities trader’ exam in 2015, before venturing into full time equity trading in 2016 when he joined Unum Capital on their Proprietary Trading desk specializing in CFDs. Innocent believes proper risk management and consistency in executing one’s trading plan, are key to achieving success in the trading business.
Marius is a full time trader on the Private Client desk at Unum Capital. Due to his passion for financial markets he completed his RPE examinations in both the Equity and Derivatives market and graduated with a B.Com degree (Honours) in Risk and Investment Management. Based on his Risk background, his goal is to carefully analyze financial instruments in order to accumulate persistent returns and effectively manage potential losses by implementing Risk management strategies.
Paul holds an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pretoria. He has a multitude of experience in managing investment portfolios for high net worth clients and believes that to be consistently successful in investing, a variety of strategies, investment styles, instruments and asset classes should be utilised in a portfolio over time. Paul is an avid mountain biker in his spare time and loves getting out on the trails. Paul is a CFA charter holder.
Braam joined the team in April 2018 to establish and advisory leg under Unum Capital. He completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning through the University of the Free State in 2016. In 2013 he entered the industry through FDM Investment Managers & Consultants after 5 years as a journalist and communication specialist. Braam believes that every person has the right to proper financial advice, and his aim is to build long-term, trusted relationships with his clients and to look at the specific circumstances within the bigger picture when it comes to your financial portfolio.
Nicolle Wepener, an independant analyst, started trading as a hobby and it developed into a passion for financial markets. I do not teach any specific strategy or skill to a client, I merely point you in the right direction and give you the facts to back my decision. Driaan completed his B.Com (Honours) in Accounting at the Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg). After 10 years at Deloitte he left the accounting profession to follow his passion and started a career in the capital markets when he joined the Bond Exchange of South Africa (BESA). After the merger between BESA and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) he took on a senior management position in strategy at the JSE. Over the last four years he has been managing his own hybrid local and offshore portfolio which has consistently outperformed the FTSE/JSE Top 40 Index.
